EMERGING MARKET FINANCE
Because financial markets are often unable to support sales and direct foreign investment in emerging markets without some government or multilateral involvement, Interlink provides critical financial advisory services to mobilize financing for regions outside Western Europe and North America. To that end, our staff includes former officials from the Export-Import Bank, Overseas Private Investment Company, Inter-American Development Bank, United Nations, International Trade Administration and U.S. Trade Representative’ Office, as well as commercial/merchant banking experience at financial institutions such as JP Morgan Chase (formerly Bank One) and Wells Fargo Bank (formally First Security bank). The type of financial support we can provide includes: business development seed money, export working capital, vendor financing (short, medium and long-term), direct foreign investment support (limited recourse debt and preferred equity), insurance, bonding, and guarantees.
We provide three essential services through a results-oriented approach, in which our economic motivation is closely aligned with that of the client:
- Expertise in navigating the maze of government and multilateral funding agencies (US Ex-Im Bank, OPIC, TDA, AID, SBA, IFC , MIGA, IADB, IIC, ADB, AfDB and another 300+ government agencies worldwide that provide funding support to projects in emerging markets).
- Structuring advice on overseas joint ventures and raising funds for emerging market transactions from a variety of debt and equity sources.
- An outsourcing for the specialized expertise of creating the quantitative, qualitative, and written materials necessary to obtain these sources of funding, which serves to augment a company’s existing financial team and ensure continuity should staff turnover occur.
SALES AND MARKETING SUPPORT
Interlink’s sales, marketing and business development support are provided to U.S. companies seeking to expand overseas, as well as foreign companies seeking to penetrate the U.S. market. There is a specific focus on the highly competitive telecom and IT industries. Our proven step-by-step implementation process has brought positive results to companies worldwide by providing these essential services:
- Securing specific sales opportunities.
- Identifying, qualifying and consummating appropriate third party channel relationships.
- Assisting in the negotiation of third party relationships with a field-proven structure.
- If and when appropriate, developing and structuring joint ventures from letter of intent or heads of agreement through funding and implementation.
GOVERNMENT ADVOCACY
Interlink’s areas of experience include: providing access to government decision makers, charting advocacy strategies for issue lobbying, representing foreign governments, advising trade associations and businesses regarding export control and dumping issues, and working with Congress and the Administration on bilateral and multilateral issues ranging from commercial relations to export controls. Interlink can improve positive business outcomes, particularly in overseas markets, by:
- Identifying pre-funded business opportunities from billions of dollars of bilateral and multilateral government agency projects;
- Obtaining soft funding commitments from government agencies and commercial institutions to support negotiations, sales, and bids;
- Synchronizing the efforts of U.S., foreign and multilateral agencies to support bids and procurement opportunities; and
- Coordinating introductions to political decision makers, administration offices, customers, investors, and financial institutions throughout the world.
